Wiebke Winter, the leading candidate for the CDU in Bremen, has urged her party to focus less on internal matters and dismissed speculation regarding a potential change in chancellorship following the state elections. In an interview with the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (noz), Winter stated, "Friedrich Merz and the federal government have been elected for four years, and I am confident that this term will be fully utilized. Particularly in the international context, we must not underestimate how important it is for Germany to remain a stabilizing anchor within the EU."

Winter emphasized the need for the government to prioritize pressing issues rather than becoming mired in self-reflection. She remarked, "We should concern ourselves less with ourselves and focus on advancing the topics that fall under our governmental responsibility."

A critical point in her address was the urgent implementation of the proposals from the pension commission regarding retirement reforms. She described the abolishment of the so-called "pension at 63" as "fair to all generations." Winter noted that the incentives for early retirement primarily benefit higher earners rather than those engaged in physically demanding jobs. "For the latter group, the pension commission has made targeted proposals. We owe it to the younger generation not to overburden them," she asserted, highlighting her role as a member of the CDU presidium.
