Kia Expands Its EV4 Range with Two New Versions

The Kia EV4 range continues to expand with the introduction of an AWD version and a sporty GT variant, enhancing its position in the dynamic electric vehicle market.

Kia Expands Its EV4 Range with Two New Versions

The Kia EV4 range continues to grow. Following the launch of the rear-wheel drive version, Kia is now introducing two highly anticipated variants: an AWD all-wheel drive version and a much sportier GT version. These two new additions allow the Korean sedan to strengthen its position in the dynamic electric vehicle market.

A More Powerful and Versatile AWD Version

Kia adds a new all-wheel drive powertrain by integrating a second electric motor. This AWD version now develops 265 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque, offering more convincing acceleration as well as better traction.

This configuration is available in the Earth and GT-Line trims. It relies on the already known 81.4 kWh battery from the EV4 range and allows for a WLTP range of up to 560 kilometers. This is less than the rear-wheel drive version with 204 horsepower, which can exceed 630 kilometers, but it remains a very good result for a more performance-oriented version.

Regarding pricing, the Kia EV4 AWD starts at €48,890 in the Earth trim and €50,490 in the GT-Line. This positioning places it directly against the Tesla Model 3.

A Kia EV4 GT Designed for Driving Pleasure

But the real novelty of this range is the arrival of the GT version. With 292 horsepower and all-wheel drive, this sporty variant claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 5.2 seconds. The WLTP range reaches 505 kilometers thanks to the 81.4 kWh battery.

However, Kia is not solely focusing on performance. The Korean manufacturer has primarily worked on the handling and driving sensations. The EV4 GT thus receives a specific, more direct steering system, adaptive suspension, and 20-inch wheels designed to make the car more dynamic on the road.

A Virtual Gearbox Like in Thermal Sports Cars

The most interesting element is undoubtedly the integration of the simulated gearbox already seen on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT. This system artificially replicates the operation of a mechanical gearbox to provide more excitement behind the wheel.

The driver can thus use the paddles behind the steering wheel to simulate gear changes, accompanied by a fake engine rev, sound effects, and even slight jolts during shifts. This operation may seem exaggerated in some aspects, but it truly transforms the driving experience of an electric car.

This new Kia EV4 GT starts at €56,390. This price is higher than that of a Tesla Model 3 Performance or a Volkswagen ID.3 GTX, but Kia is betting on a much more emotional and technological approach to electric sports driving.
