Mazda Tests CO₂ Capture System Onboard Vehicles

Mazda продолжает развивать экспериментальную технологию под названием Mobile Carbon Capture - систему, которая пытается улавливать углекислый газ непосредственно во время движения автомобиля.

Mazda continues to develop an experimental technology called Mobile Carbon Capture - a system that attempts to capture carbon dioxide directly while the vehicle is in motion.

The next phase of testing for the Mobile Carbon Capture system took place during the third round of Super Taikyu 2026, held from June 5 to 7 at the Fuji circuit in Japan.

How It Works?

Mazda integrated the CO₂ capture system into the MAZDA SPIRIT RACING 3 Future concept race car (No. 55). The vehicle operated on hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), which can have a lower life-cycle carbon footprint compared to traditional fossil fuels, depending on the feedstock and production methods.

At the heart of the system is zeolite - a porous material that actively absorbs CO₂. While in motion, the gas accumulates in the adsorption module, after which the system uses exhaust heat to
