Joint Venture Kicks Off First Project in China
Bosch and Mitsubishi have announced that their joint venture, Bosch MC Battery Service Innovations GmbH, has secured its first client for the innovative Battery as a Service (BaaS) solution. This service is the result of collaboration between the Japanese automotive manufacturer and the German automotive component giant. The implementation of this technology will be carried out by Shanghai Lingzhou Technology Co. Ltd, which provides a range of energy services in Chizhou, China.
Innovative Charging Solution
The project features a hub where electric commercial vehicles can quickly replace or recharge their batteries within minutes. This is achieved through an AI-based charging method integrated with an analytical solution that optimizes the entire process. As a result, users benefit from a personalized charging experience and improved performance in fleet monitoring and protection. Currently, the facility accommodates over 100 commercial vehicles daily.
The technology introduced by Bosch MC Battery Service Innovations aims to facilitate the electrification of fleets, particularly in the rapidly growing Chinese market. It is projected that nearly 30% of heavy-duty NEV trucks sold will be electric by 2025, with expectations to exceed 50% by 2030, according to Bosch's estimates.
Software for Battery Integrity Assessment
Additionally, the joint venture's solution enhances the ability to accurately predict the future value of electric vehicles and their energy sources. This is accomplished through “Battery in the Cloud,” a software that precisely calculates the “state of integrity” of traction batteries, forecasting their evolution and aiding in optimizing charging processes.

“Through this service, Bosch and Mitsubishi can create real added value for fleets,” stated Thomas Pauer, President of Bosch Power Solutions. “While batteries tend to degrade over time and with numerous charging cycles, our solution enables fleet operators to monitor the battery conditions of their vehicles—an essential criterion for assessing daily usability and total cost of ownership.”
