Ford Mustang FP800S: The V8 GT Boosts to 810 HP

Ford Racing Parts has unveiled the FP800S kit for the seventh-generation Mustang GT S650, designed to significantly enhance the performance of this iconic American sports car. This comprehensive engine and chassis package elevates the Mustang’s output to an impressive 810 horsepower.

The new FP800S packages come with a price tag of $18,500, regardless of the chosen color or suspension type. These upgrades are aimed at performance enthusiasts looking to transform a standard Mustang GT into a more radical version while maintaining a cohesive integration of engine, chassis, and aesthetic design.

Customers initially select between two suspension configurations: standard passive dampers or an adaptive MagneRide system. They can also choose between a glossy black or bronze exterior finish. While the various packages have distinct references to indicate their aesthetic and suspension combinations, the core components remain consistent across all four versions.

Whipple Supercharger Enhances the V8 Coyote

At the heart of the FP800S program is the installation of a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger on the fourth-generation V8 Coyote engine. This modification dramatically enhances the capabilities of the Mustang GT’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter engine.

With premium fuel, the upgraded engine delivers a claimed output of 810 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, which is approximately 834 Nm. Vehicles equipped with the standard passive exhaust can achieve up to 800 horsepower under optimal conditions.

To support this significant power increase, Ford Racing Parts also includes a reinforced half-shaft kit to enhance the vehicle's ability to handle the additional power transmitted to the wheels.

The package is complemented by the ProCal 4 tool, a portable calibration module that allows for reprogramming of the original engine control unit. This system adjusts fuel delivery, ignition timing, and various transmission parameters to optimize the performance of the modified engine.

According to Ford Racing Parts, this calibration complies with emissions standards across all 50 states, ensuring that performance enhancements do not compromise regulatory compliance.

Chassis Upgrades for Enhanced Performance

The increase in power is only part of the transformation offered by the FP800S program. Ford Racing Parts also equips the packages with new wheels designed to improve the dynamic handling of the Mustang GT.

Each kit features multi-spoke 19-inch wheels, with different widths for the front and rear axles: 19 inches by 10.5 inches at the front and 19 inches by 11 inches at the rear. Available finishes include the two themes offered, with either a glossy black or bronze treatment.

Models designated with the suffix P come with a set of reinforced lowering springs paired with passive dampers, while those with the suffix A utilize springs compatible with the adaptive MagneRide suspension.

Standard equipment includes rear fender flares and matching wheel nuts. Ford Racing Parts also recommends using Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires, with specific sizes of 305/30 at the front and 315/30 at the rear, although these tires are sold separately.

The preparation also features several body elements aimed at enhancing the visual identity of the Mustang FP800S. A specific modular front grille with associated air intakes receives a Ford Performance badge, while a rear appliqué on the trunk lid is complemented by a spoiler.

A Mustang GT That Approaches the Dark Horse

The FP800S transformation extends into the interior with the addition of a specific FP800S badge. However, the installation of the package is not included in the quoted price. Ford dealers can perform this installation, but additional costs are not specified.

With a current base price of $46,800 for the Mustang GT before destination fees and options, adding the FP800S package pushes the total cost beyond $65,000 before installation. This pricing brings the modified Mustang GT closer to the cost of the Mustang Dark Horse, a more performance-oriented variant offered by Ford.

However, it remains below the price of the Dark Horse SC, which is listed at $106,090 and boasts an output of 795 horsepower.
