Hyundai AllDayEnergy: Electric Vehicle Batteries as Energy Storage Solutions

Hyundai's Commitment to Bidirectional Charging

Hyundai is making significant strides in the field of bidirectional charging, focusing on research and development to optimize the energy systems of electric vehicle (EV) batteries for uses beyond mere vehicle mobility. This commitment is exemplified by the global launch of AllDayEnergy, a new integrated Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) service that enables the use of EV batteries as energy storage systems.

Economic Savings and Grid Stability

The platform developed by Hyundai facilitates a bidirectional flow of energy between vehicles and the electric grid. This innovative technology allows for the storage of electricity during off-peak hours when costs are lower and demand is higher, and then returning this stored energy during peak demand periods. This approach not only provides economic benefits but also enhances the stability and resilience of the electrical system.

Financial Product Collaboration with Hana Bank

In conjunction with the launch of the V2X service, Hyundai has partnered with Hana Bank, a financial institution under Hana Financial Group, to introduce the “AllDayEnergy My Heart Savings Account.” This financial product is designed to complement the new energy ecosystem developed by Hyundai Motor Group.

Automakers Transitioning to Energy Service Providers

The introduction of AllDayEnergy underscores a broader trend among automakers, who are increasingly positioning themselves not just as vehicle manufacturers but also as providers of electric mobility services and active participants in the energy ecosystem. The announcement of this global service was well received by financial markets, resulting in a 6% rise in Hyundai's stock and over a 2% increase in Kia's shares.
