The European car market continues to demonstrate stable growth. In the first four months of 2026, nearly 3.8 million new passenger cars were sold in the countries of the European Union. However, the difference between individual countries remains enormous — from hundreds of thousands of cars sold to just a few thousand.

This was reported by "Ukravtoprom".

Germany traditionally remains the largest market for new cars in the EU. From January to April, nearly 949,000 new passenger cars were registered there. Compared to the same period last year, the demand for new cars in the country increased by 4.5%.

Italy took second place, with sales exceeding 639,000 cars. France secured the third position with nearly 540,000 cars, although the local market showed a slight decline.

Spain and Poland also made it into the top five largest automotive markets in the European Union. In both countries, sales of new passenger cars continued to grow, indicating a recovery in demand among buyers.

At the same time, the lowest registration figures were recorded in smaller EU countries. Malta had the most modest result, with just over two thousand new cars sold in four months. Low sales volumes were also observed in Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Interestingly, Estonia demonstrated the highest growth rates among smaller markets — the number of registrations there nearly doubled compared to last year.

In comparison, in Ukraine, approximately 21,500 new passenger cars were sold in the first four months of 2026. This is a 7% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
