Renntech Sledgehammer: A Bold Tribute to 80s Automotive Excess
The SEC V12 Widebody Sledgehammer is an exclusive restomod produced in only twelve units, inspired by the wildest AMG models of the 1980s.

The SEC V12 Widebody Sledgehammer stands as an exclusive restomod, with only twelve units produced, drawing inspiration from the most audacious AMG models of the 1980s. This vehicle takes us back to a time when concerns about downsizing, emissions, and fuel consumption were virtually nonexistent.
A Reinvented SEC
Renntech breathes new life into an icon from the 1980s, a decade characterized by unrestrained automotive ambition. The original AMG Hammer, a W124 model, featured a heavily modified V8 engine that was capable of competing with the Ferraris of its time. The concept was revolutionary: transform a luxurious Mercedes sedan into a brutal supercar without sacrificing refinement. The Sledgehammer, aptly named, embodies this ethos.
Built on the foundation of a Mercedes 560 SEC (C126), the Sledgehammer undergoes extensive modifications: a restored chassis, widened tracks, a widebody design, modern suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, a bespoke interior crafted to the customer’s specifications, and artisanal manufacturing.
The design philosophy mirrors the Hammer spirit of the era: a striking yet understated appearance that does not compromise aerodynamic efficiency.

A Legendary V12
The original AMG Hammer from the 1980s was equipped with a V8 engine derived from the S-Class and 560 SEC coupe models. AMG had bored it out to nearly 6 liters, featuring 32 valves and K-Jetronic mechanical injection, producing a formidable 385 horsepower at 5,700 rpm.
In contrast, the Renntech Sledgehammer shifts to a V12 engine, specifically the M120 V12. Introduced in 1991 with the S-Class W140, this engine is one of Mercedes' most iconic powerplants. Constructed entirely from aluminum, it boasts four camshafts and 48 valves, renowned for its durability and tuning potential, originally generating 408 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque in the S600. It has since been adapted for various applications, including the AMG 7.3-liter engines and the CLK GTR, as well as early Pagani Zondas, whose sound has become legendary.

Nostalgic Essence Meets Modern Thrill
Renntech meticulously rebuilds the M120, incorporating a forged crankshaft, forged pistons, CNC-machined cylinder heads, bespoke camshafts, and an optimized intake system. The engine's displacement is increased to 7.5 liters, with an impressive output of 660 horsepower and 881 Nm of torque.
The manual transmission features a transaxle architecture, which enhances weight distribution and transforms the vehicle's dynamic handling. With completely revised suspensions, adjustable dampers, and braking systems worthy of a supercar, the Sledgehammer promises a comprehensive driving experience. The price point is expected to be equally striking.
