Eighty-three male drivers and one female competitor faced the sweltering heat in Misano from July 17 to 19, 2026, during the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup. The event drew significant attention, particularly for local hero Valentino Rossi, who hails from the nearby area. His presence attracted thousands of enthusiastic fans.
Carrie Schreiner, the sole female driver in the competition, faced a tough challenge in this premier GT series. The 27-year-old from Saarland showed improvement throughout the weekend, managing to keep pace in a field of over 40 cars.
Alongside her new teammate, Denmark's Sebastian Øgaard, Schreiner achieved eighth place in her class during the Saturday night race and moved up to seventh on Sunday.
Reflecting on her experience, Carrie stated, "It was one of the toughest racing weekends of my career! The unbearable heat and fierce competition pushed me to my limits. We encountered a minor issue during the pit stop in the second race; otherwise, we could have finished even higher."
She continued, "I am constantly learning and rising to the challenge as the only woman in this 'hardcore series'! My team, Tresor Attempto Racing, prepared our Audi R8 LMS GT3 perfectly, helping me make further progress. What matters most to me is where I end up at the conclusion of the season."
