The return of social leasing is becoming clearer. After two successful editions, the state-supported program is set to return this summer with revised conditions and a new selection of electric vehicles accessible to the most modest households. Stellantis is the first manufacturer to unveil its offer.
A Dozen Models Already Announced
The Franco-Italian automotive group has confirmed the participation of several brands from its portfolio in the 2026 social leasing program. In total, twelve electric vehicles will be eligible for the scheme.
The entry-level offer will be provided by the Citroën ë-C3 with a rental price starting from 94 euros per month. However, the manufacturer has not specified which version of the city car will be subject to this particularly attractive price.
Alongside the small Citroën will be the electric Fiat Grande Panda, the Fiat 500e, and the Fiat 600e. Peugeot will participate with several models from its range, including the e-208, e-2008, e-308, and e-Rifter. Citroën will also offer the ë-C3 Aircross, ë-C4, and ë-Berlingo, while Opel will provide the Mokka Electric and Frontera Electric.

According to the selected models and their level of equipment, the monthly payments should remain below the 200 euros ceiling imposed by the government program.
Registrations Are Already Being Prepared
While the official launch is expected during the summer, Stellantis indicates that it has opened pre-registrations for interested motorists. This new campaign should allow approximately 50,000 households to benefit from an electric vehicle at a preferential rate.
The scheme remains reserved for households meeting several criteria. The reference tax income must not exceed 16,300 euros per share. Beneficiaries must also demonstrate significant use of their vehicle, either by residing more than 15 kilometers from their workplace or by traveling more than 8,000 kilometers per year for professional activities.

Another important condition: individuals who have already benefited from social leasing during previous campaigns cannot submit a new application.
Revised Financial Assistance for 2026
The amount of public support is evolving once again. For this edition, the aid can reach up to 9,500 euros depending on the origin of the vehicle and its battery.
This ceiling is situated between those of the two previous campaigns. For comparison, the maximum bonus reached 13,000 euros at the launch of the scheme in 2024 before being lowered to 7,000 euros in 2025.
With this third edition, the government hopes to continue the democratization of electric cars while targeting households for whom the acquisition cost remains a major barrier.
