Hennessey Unveils Project Overlord: A New Hypercar Set to Join the Venom F5

Hennessey is gearing up to expand its lineup with the introduction of a new model, which will complement the existing Venom F5. This upcoming hypercar, dubbed "Project Overlord," is scheduled for a reveal on August 3, 2026, just prior to the Monterey Car Week, where it will make its public debut.
For several years, the Venom F5 has been the sole offering from Hennessey, with the company primarily releasing variants such as the limited-edition F5-M Roadster. Now, more than two years after the Venom F5's launch, Hennessey is ready to unveil a second hypercar.
A teaser video released recently showcases some intriguing features of the Project Overlord, particularly highlighting a semicircular LED rear light embedded between two sections of bodywork, set above a black mesh grille. This glimpse suggests that the new hypercar will have an aggressive appearance that is sure to excite enthusiasts.
While the teaser provided a brief look at the car, further details remain scarce. A couple of years ago, John Hennessey described this vehicle, which was then in development, as "a lightweight car with a high-revving engine and an engaging driving experience"—a model the brand has long wanted to add to its range. Like the Venom F5, the Project Overlord will not be based on any existing sports car and will be fully designed and manufactured by Hennessey. Previously, Hennessey referred to Project Overlord as the American successor to the iconic Porsche Carrera GT.
At this point, the specific performance metrics and capabilities of the new model are still a mystery. If it turns out to be slightly smaller and lighter than the Venom F5, possibly featuring a simpler engine and perhaps even a manual transmission, it could serve as an American alternative to supercars like the Lamborghini Temerario or the McLaren 765LT. However, Hennessey's limited production capacity suggests that the new hypercar will likely be offered in a limited series with a correspondingly high price tag.
