Omoda & Jaecoo Achieve Dual International Certification for AI Safety in Vehicles

As artificial intelligence continues to embed itself into the automotive industry, the demand for reliable, controllable, and safe systems grows increasingly critical. In this context, OMODA & JAECOO, brands under the Chery Group, have successfully obtained dual international certifications: ISO/PAS 8800 and ISO/IEC 42001.

These certifications, awarded following audits conducted by UL Solutions and TÜV SÜD, focus on the safety of AI applications in vehicles and the governance of AI systems. This recognition encompasses the entire development cycle of intelligent technologies, from data management and model training to testing and application in vehicles.

The ISO/PAS 8800 standard is the first international benchmark specifically dedicated to AI safety in the automotive sector. OMODA & JAECOO are among the first Chinese manufacturers to receive this certification, aimed at ensuring that AI-based systems remain reliable and controllable even in the most complex driving situations.

On the other hand, ISO/IEC 42001 addresses organizational aspects, certifying the existence of a structured management system for AI, which includes strategy, risk assessment, ethical considerations, and continuous monitoring. Together, these certifications represent complementary levels of control: technical safety of applications on one side and governance of the processes that regulate their development on the other.

For drivers, this issue is directly relevant to increasingly common features, such as assisted driving, voice commands, and systems based on integrated Large Language Models within the cockpit. The goal is to ensure that these technologies are developed within a traceable and verifiable safety system capable of managing risks associated with evolving models and software updates.

The certification comes as OMODA & JAECOO ramp up their efforts in the realm of artificial intelligence. The brand recently unveiled the Super AI Cockpit in Indonesia, a system that incorporates 10 intelligent agents and supports five languages, aiming to transform the interaction with the vehicle from merely executing commands to a more predictive and personalized experience.

With a presence now in 77 markets, the safety of AI is becoming a crucial tool for OMODA & JAECOO as they pursue international expansion. In a sector where artificial intelligence is set to play an increasingly central role, the ability to demonstrate safety and reliability may become a fundamental requirement for transitioning these technologies from development to mass production.
