Skoda Epiq (2026): the simple yet highly efficient electric SUV

Following the Cupra Raval and the Volkswagen ID. Polo, it is now Skoda's turn to officially unveil its urban electric vehicle based on the new MEB+ platform of the group. Here is the Skoda Epiq, the third electric SUV from the Czech brand, this time with a very affordable starting price of 25,000 euros.

A simple and modern design

The design of the Skoda Epiq adopts the Modern Solid aesthetics found on the Elroq and the facelifted Enyaq. The car is sleek yet assertive with a T-shaped light signature, a glossy black strip connecting the two headlights, both at the top and bottom, with a body-colored insert in the middle. This ensemble acts as a reimagined grille. Eight slots at the bottom of the front bumper allow for the cooling of the vehicle's electric system. This stylistic effect is reminiscent of Jeep's seven-slot grille.

The profile is simple. Here, there are no expensive door handles integrated into the body. Wheel arches are topped with black plastic. The profile also displays a robust character with thick C-pillars bearing the Skoda inscription. Skoda no longer places its logo on its cars; the manufacturer has opted, on the Elroq and also on the Enyaq, to write the brand name in full.

At the rear, the taillights maintain the same T-shape while noting the absence of a light strip between the lights. The Epiq does not need this stylistic effect to appear modern. The motif of the eight slots is echoed with an embossing in the rear bumper.

In terms of dimensions, the Skoda Epiq is truly compact, measuring only 4.17 m in length, 1.80 m in width, and 1.58 m in height.

A simple yet spacious interior

I remember when I was able to test the prototypes of the Skoda Epiq, we had access to a version whose interior was 99.9% close to the production model. I was able to sit in the back, and I did not feel cramped. A good point for a small car measuring 4.17 m in length. The same goes for headroom, as the ceiling height allows for a comfortable experience.

Regarding the trunk, it offers a gigantic volume for the category with 475 liters. The Skoda Epiq is a small big car: small in size, big in onboard space. We expect nothing less from a Skoda.

As for the dashboard, it is rather basic and similar to what can be found in its cousins, the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo. The design is almost symmetrical with a 13-inch infotainment screen running on Android, located at the center of the cabin. The two-spoke steering wheel is simple, as is the digital instrument cluster.

Multiple battery and motor configurations

While the Skoda Epiq is announced with a range of up to 440 km on the WLTP cycle, this is primarily thanks to the 52 kWh NMC battery available on the Skoda Epiq 55, paired with a 210 horsepower motor.

In the entry-level range, the Skoda Epiq 35 and 40 use a 37 kWh LFP battery for a range of about 310 km. The difference between the two versions lies in the power of the front motor: 116 horsepower for the Epiq 35 and 135 horsepower for the Epiq 40.

The weight is almost identical across all versions of the Epiq: 1,542 kg with the LFP battery and 1,544 kg for the NMC battery. Charging is nearly as fast, taking between 25 and 28 minutes depending on the version to go from 10 to 80%. A One-Pedal function is also offered.

Pricing of the Skoda Epiq

The Skoda Epiq starts at 26,470 euros, slightly more than the initial target of 25,000 euros set by the brand. However, we will have to wait a little longer. During the model presentation, Skoda opened orders only for the Epiq 55, starting at 32,070 euros and going up to 39,050 euros for its First Edition version.

Additionally, its production location in Spain allows it to benefit from an ecological bonus, which should bring its base price closer to 20,000 euros. Thus, it presents a serious competitor to the Kia EV2.
