The electrified DS n°7 range marks a strategic turning point for the Stellantis group brand. Positioned in the highly competitive segment of premium electrified SUVs, the DS n°7 is available at competitive prices in both hybrid and 100% electric versions. With high range, a clear upscale positioning, and a well-considered pricing strategy, this French model establishes itself as a strategic pillar for DS Automobiles.
100% Electric at the Heart of the Strategy
The range includes four powertrains and four trim levels. Well-equipped from the base versions and offered at a competitive price, the DS n°7 presents a good performance-to-price ratio and plays an important role for the brand. Power outputs range from 145 hp for the hybrid to 350 hp for the FWD LONG RANGE version, which boasts up to 740 km of range in the WLTP cycle.

While DS Automobiles offers an entry-level hybrid version, it is indeed the 100% electric versions that DS Automobiles is betting on. Following the launch of the DS n°8 and the transformation of the DS 4 into the DS n°4, DS Automobiles is bringing back a key model from its recent history. As a commercial pillar, the DS 7 returns with the ambition to reclaim its place in the premium segment, taking on the n°7 designation for the occasion.
Three Electric Variants and Two Battery Capacities
The DS n°7 offers three 100% electric powertrains of 230 hp, 245 hp, and 350 hp, which benefit from a temporary boost of an additional 25 to 35 hp depending on the powertrain. Two battery capacities are offered: a 73.7 kWh battery found in the 230 hp version, and a 97.2 kWh battery available on the two higher powertrains.

The 100% electric versions, named E-TENSE, FWD (230 hp), FWD LONG RANGE (245 hp), and AWD LONG RANGE (350 hp), are based on a 400-volt platform.
Charging and Daily Use
When looking at its German competitors, 800 V architectures are becoming the norm in the high-end premium segments. Indeed, the BMW iX3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric feature this technology, allowing for rapid charging.

The electric versions of the DS n°7 benefit from an onboard charger of 7.4 kW to 11 kW provided as standard (22 kW optional) and a fast charging power of up to 160 kW, allowing for a charge from 20% to 80% in 27 minutes (97.2 kWh battery).
Competitive Pricing Positioning in the Premium Segment
When examining the pricing against its competitors, this time, DS has the advantage. Indeed, the DS n°7 starts at €43,900 for its hybrid version and €46,990 for the DS n°7 E-TENSE FWD (230 hp). These two versions should therefore benefit from the CEE bonus.

This positioning places the DS n°7 in the lower average of the premium electrified SUV segment with comparable equipment.
It allows the model to position itself as an alternative to already established offers in this market, particularly among German manufacturers.
