Nissan Leaf Nismo Unveiled: Sporty Electric Compact with Up to 218 HP

The new Nissan Leaf Nismo has officially been unveiled in Japan, marking the introduction of the sporty variant of the third-generation electric compact from the Japanese automaker. Initially, this model will be available exclusively in its domestic market. Following the sporty treatment seen in previous models such as the Ariya, Patrol, and Nissan Z, the new Leaf Nismo presents a more aggressive and performance-oriented design both aesthetically and in terms of features.

Striking Design with Nismo Red Accents

Staying true to the traditional aesthetic that characterizes Nismo versions, the Nissan Leaf boasts a distinctive red profile that runs around the base of the body. This is complemented by black glossy mirror caps, sporty bumpers with aerodynamic flaps on the outer edges, a prominent ducktail spoiler at the rear, and 19-inch Enkei sport wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires. The color palette includes six options, featuring two exclusive shades of Nismo Stealth Gray alongside the four colors available for the standard Leaf.

Sporty Interior with Recaro Seats

Inside, the classic color combination of black and red defines the Nismo versions. The interior of the new Nissan Leaf is adorned with black upholstery and plastics, highlighted by red accents on stitching and the profiles of the sport seats. Optional front seats from Recaro are available, equipped with electric adjustments and headrests featuring the Nismo logo. The steering wheel also showcases a synthetic leather TailorFit cover, with a red button for selecting driving modes, further enhancing the sporty feel of the central console.

Power Options Up to 218 HP

On the powertrain front, the Nissan Leaf Nismo offers two power variants that are also available in Italy: one producing 177 HP and 345 Nm of torque, and another delivering 218 HP and 355 Nm. The Nismo variant is expected to utilize the same 75 kWh battery as the standard Leaf, boasting a claimed range of 622 km. It stands out with a specific sport-tuned chassis, suspension (featuring stiffer dampers), and enhanced steering response. Additionally, the Sport driving mode has been fine-tuned for increased responsiveness, while the regenerative braking system has been optimized for a more aggressive feel, adjustable via paddles on the steering wheel.

Pricing for the Japanese Market

The new Nissan Leaf Nismo has been priced in Japan starting from approximately €35,600 for the 177 HP version, around €37,500 for the 218 HP variant, and about €39,000 for the 218 HP model equipped with Recaro seats. Currently, there is no information regarding the potential availability of this model in Europe.
