Volkswagen ID. Polo Trend: Entry-Level Model Finally Priced Below €25,000

Initially offered only in high-end configurations at launch, the Volkswagen ID. Polo is finally becoming more accessible. The German manufacturer is launching the Trend trim, an entry-level version priced from €24,995 before ecological bonuses. This significant price reduction, however, comes with some compromises, particularly regarding the battery and certain aesthetic elements.

A Simpler Trim, But Still Well-Equipped

Until now, the ID. Polo was only available with the large-capacity battery, placing its price above €35,000. With this new Trend trim, Volkswagen aims to broaden its customer base by offering a more competitive option in the electric city car segment.

Visually, this version is distinguished by a more understated presentation. Alloy wheels are replaced with steel wheels equipped with hubcaps, while some aesthetic refinements are omitted. Nevertheless, the equipment remains generous for an entry-level version.

The features include manual battery preconditioning, blind-spot monitoring, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, bidirectional charging, a 12.9-inch central touchscreen with the Innovision system, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster known as IQ Cockpit.

A Smaller Battery to Reduce Costs

The main change concerns the technical specifications. To lower the price, Volkswagen replaces the 52 kWh NMC battery with a 37 kWh LFP accumulator. The homologated range thus decreases from 455 km to 329 km according to the WLTP cycle.

This value remains average for the segment and allows the ID. Polo to compete with models like the Citroën ë-C3 or the electric Fiat Grande Panda for primarily urban and suburban use.

Fast charging remains a strong selling point. Unlike some competitors that forgo this technology to reduce their selling price, this Trend version can recover from 10% to 80% battery in just 23 minutes. This feature still allows for longer trips, although the version equipped with the 52 kWh battery will be more suitable for long journeys.

Practical Qualities Remain Intact

Despite this more compact battery, the Trend trim retains the main advantages of the ID. Polo. With a length of 4.05 meters, the electric city car offers particularly well-considered passenger space and a trunk of 441 liters, values that rank among the best in the category.

Volkswagen does not alter the fundamentals of its model but primarily seeks to make it more competitive in the highly competitive electric city car market.

Aggressive Leasing Offers Starting July 15

In addition to this new pricing, Volkswagen will launch a particularly attractive leasing offer starting July 15. The Trend trim will be offered at €199 per month with no down payment, thanks to the combination of the Coup de pouce bonus and the vehicle's good residual value.

Customers desiring more equipment can also opt for the Life trim, priced at only €20 more per month, or €219 with no down payment.

The amount of the Coup de pouce bonus varies according to the reference tax income. It reaches €5,170 for the most modest households, €4,600 for intermediate incomes, and €3,450 for the wealthiest households. With these aids, the entry price of the Volkswagen ID. Polo can thus drop below €20,000, a level that makes it significantly more competitive in the electric city car market.
