Post-Race Insights from the Top Three Finishers
After the first DTM race in Oschersleben, the podium finishers shared their thoughts on the competition and their performances.
Winner: Thomas Preining (Manthey) - Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)
"We aim to compete for the title, so this victory was crucial for us. Our strategy worked perfectly. The right timing for the pit stop is vital at Oschersleben, as the tight circuit can quickly lead to being caught in traffic during lapping. In the final stages, Luca Engstler was closing in on me, which required utmost concentration."
Second Place: Luca Engstler (Red Bull Team Abt) - Lamborghini Temerario GT3
"We had a challenging start to the season, which was expected in our first year with a completely new vehicle. As a team, we have progressed race by race and finally demonstrated that we can compete at the front. I have known Oschersleben since childhood, having watched my father's races here, and I secured my first DTM victory on this track, creating a special bond with it."
Third Place: Maro Engel (Mercedes-AMG Team RAVENOL) - Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO
"A podium finish in the DTM is always a fantastic result. We are back at the top of the standings after a strong season so far. However, I am frustrated that we couldn't hold onto second place. Mistakes like the one during the pit stop can happen, but we need to eliminate such errors and come back strong on Sunday."
